Your best sleep with a clean, sanitary mattress

Have trouble sleeping at night? Have you tried everything you can think of to sleep better? Maybe you should try a professional mattress cleaning to sleep more soundly and wake up refreshed.

Think of the facts. We sleep in our beds for about 1/3 of our lives. That is more than most of us spend at work each week. We are laying just a few sheet layers from our comfortable mattresses unaware of a problem. Then, you see this post and pictures making you feel itchy.

Yuck!

Dustmites can spread disease

How gross is your mattress? Let’s take a look at some factors. Whether you sleep alone, or with your dog, cat…or with a loved one, we all have a hidden bedroom companion.

The mattress collects our dead skin cells, our body’s sweat, and body oil that we secrete while we sleep. But our mattress is also home to thousands of microscopic creatures — dust mites.
House Dust Mites, are tiny little creatures that live on dust. These vermin, due to their exceptionally tiny frames and translucent bodies, are scarcely obvious to the unaided eye. You need a 10× or higher magnifying glass.
These tiny vermin feed off of our dead skin cells and those of our pets. Some eat mold, as well. While the average life cycle of the male dust mite is short-lived, lasting only 10-19 days, the female can live up to 70 days. In this period, the female is capable of laying 60 to 100 eggs during the final 5 weeks of her 10-week life cycle. In a 70-day life cycle, a female dust mite will produce almost 2,000 fecal particles and a much greater number of partially digested enzyme-covered dust particles.

The house dust mite’s stomach contains dynamic digestive enzymes that remain in their feces and are primary inducers of allergic reactions like sneezing. The dust mite’s exoskeleton also contributes to allergic reactions. In 2006, the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology stated that severe dust mite infestation in the home is linked to atopic dermatitis (eczema) and skin barrier damage is possible.
Wow! For many of us, that is a lot of bad news to inhale.  So, how does all this impact our sleep? Sleeping on our mattresses means that we are inhaling the allergens that are coming from the dust mites. This can cause breathing to become more difficult. Someone with asthma and allergies may experience an episode of breathing trouble.
About 1 in 5 Americans are impacted by asthma or allergies. Which happened first, the dust mites or the allergies?  20% of America has asthma or allergies?

Tips to lessen the dust mite population in your home

A good night of sleep has long been considered a huge factor with a healthy lifestyle.  Although our comfort is vital for achieving a good night’s sleep, hygiene is just as important.

In the typical American home, dust mite-related allergens continue to be a problem. For many, these dust mite allergens cause an uneasy night of sleep. Restless sleep is proven to play a major role in the lack of productivity and a loss in concentration throughout the day.
